Robert Downey Jr. revealed meeting Christopher Nolan for a role in Batman Begins' Scarecrow, losing out to Cillian Murphy.

Downey recalled a tea meeting with Nolan where he sensed the director wasn't leaning towards casting him, realizing the part wouldn't go to him.

Cillian Murphy ultimately played Dr. Jonathan Crane (Scarecrow) in Batman Begins and continued in Nolan's subsequent Dark Knight films.

Murphy and Nolan collaborated on multiple projects, including Inception, Dunkirk, and the recent Oppenheimer, where Downey Jr. also stars.

Downey Jr. achieved global fame as Tony Stark/Iron Man, launching the MCU with 2008's Iron Man, considering it some of his best work.

Despite the MCU's success, Downey Jr. nearly lost the role, with Kevin Feige acknowledging the studio's reliance on him for its establishment.

Downey Jr. reflects on Iron Man's impact, stating it went a bit unnoticed due to the superhero genre's initial reception.
