Christian McCaffrey, the San Francisco 49ers’ Running Back
Christian McCaffrey, the San Francisco 49ers’ Running Back Takes the Field Despite Battling Injury Christian McCaffrey, the star running back for the San Francisco 49ers, proved his readiness for prime time as he was officially active in Monday night’s game against the Minnesota Vikings, despite nursing an oblique injury.
McCaffrey had left the field during the 49ers’ Week 6 loss to the Cleveland Browns due to the injury. However, he made a remarkable recovery, returning to practice and participating in limited sessions on both Friday and Saturday, earning a questionable designation for the game.
His availability comes as a sigh of relief for the Niners,
especially given that they will be without the services of Deebo Samuel, who was ruled out due to a shoulder injury, and their left tackle, Trent Williams.
McCaffrey has been a standout performer in the 2023 season, having scored at least one touchdown from scrimmage in every game, thus matching the all-time record. His impressive stats include leading the league with 553 rushing yards, seven rushing touchdowns, and two touchdown receptions.
McCaffrey has been averaging 22.2 touches per game.
It remains to be seen whether he can maintain this workload with his injury, or if Elijah Mitchell and Jordan Mason will step up to fill the void.”
