Jennie from the hit K-pop girl group BLACKPINK has etched her name in the record books as the first female solo artist in K-pop to surpass 1 billion YouTube views on a single video. Her explosive 2018 debut solo single “SOLO” recently crossed the historic billion-view threshold.
Only one other K-pop artist, PSY, had previously joined YouTube’s billion-view club with his viral 2012 video “Gangnam Style.” So Jennie’s milestone cements her status as K-pop royalty while paving the way for future female soloists.
