In a tell-all interview with People Magazine, 37-year-old Lily Gladstone gushes over the impact Cate has had on her acting career, right from her teenage years up until receiving expert advice in the lead-up to this year’s Oscars event.
Acting Role Model Since Teenage Years
Lily Gladstone confesses that she has looked up to Cate’s prolific career and acting talents since her formative years. As a teenager and budding actress, Lily Gladstone reveals she would idolize Cate’s performances and aspire to emulate her on-screen brilliance one day.
“You grow up idolizing somebody’s career and their acting. And you think it’s going to be a bit of advice about how to stay present or how to commit to an objective or some acting tip,” Lily Gladstone shares in the interview.
Upset Over Cate’s Oscar Snub in 1999
Reminiscing about the time when Cate did not win the Oscar for her widely acclaimed role as Queen Elizabeth I in the 1998 film “Elizabeth,” Lily Gladstone says she felt extremely disappointed back then.
“I remember just being upset about that,” she admits.
Having regarded Cate as the “great talent of this generation,” Lily has looked up to the veteran actress’s career trajectory and acting skills since the late 1990s.
Cate – The Ultimate Actress and Mentor
When asked about who she considers the ultimate actress from this generation, Lily promptly names Cate Blanchett.
“She’s my ultimate actress. I think she’s the great talent of this generation,” Lily Gladstone declares.
Not only does Lily see Cate as her longtime acting idol, but she also regards the 53-year-old actress as a mentor, especially in the run-up to this year’s Academy Awards event.
Lily Gladstone is nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category at the 2024 Oscars for her role as Mollie Burkhart in Martin Scorsese’s film “Killers of the Flower Moon” starring Leonardo DiCaprio. She plays the wife of DiCaprio’s character Ernest Burkhart.
