Announcing her forthcoming book “Looking Forward” on Instagram, Henry shared that 2020 was an extremely challenging time for her mentally and emotionally. She explains that the pain she endured inspired her to write something beautiful.
Henry says she journaled extensively about her experiences throughout the pandemic. Eventually, these intimate journals evolved into a fictional novel.
Novel Touches On Trauma, Abuse, Abortion, More Sensitive Topics
Per Henry’s Instagram post, “Looking Forward” contains sensitive content about trauma, including abuse, violence, self-harm, substance abuse, eating disorders, and abortion.
Henry says she never intended to publicly share something so personal. However, by opening up about her main character’s struggles, she hopes others experiencing similar hardships will feel less alone.
Writing Has Been Henry’s Passion And Outlet During Difficult Journey
According to Henry, writing has always been a passion and outlet for her, even during painful times. Transforming her pandemic journals into a novel allowed creativity and self-expression to blossom out of hardship.
