Legendary rocker Ozzy Osbourne recently criticized rapper Kanye West for using a Black Sabbath song sample without permission. In a new interview, Osbourne affirmed his decision to publicly call out West’s unauthorized usage.
Osbourne Blasted West’s Sample as “Just Wrong”
When asked if he regretted slamming Kanye West on Twitter, Ozzy Osbourne doubled down. “Well, nobody else would **** do it, did they?” he replied. Osbourne suggested West’s history of offensive comments made the rebuke necessary.
“With the current state of affairs, you don’t need anybody starting people on discrimination of any kind,” Osbourne stated. He emphasized, “It’s wrong. It’s just wrong. There’s enough *** aggravation, and he shouldn’t say anything [like what he has].”
Earlier this month, Osbourne blasted West’s use of the Black Sabbath song “Iron Man” on his new album. “HE IS AN ANTISEMITE. I WANT NO ASSOCIATION WITH THIS MAN,” Osbourne tweeted.
Wife Sharon Osbourne Also Condemned West’s Actions
Ozzy Osbourne wasn’t alone in criticizing Kanye West’s sampling. His wife and manager Sharon Osbourne also slammed the rap artist. “We get so many requests for these songs, and when we saw that request, we just said no way,” she said.
Citing West’s history of hateful rhetoric, Sharon insisted, “We don’t want to be associated with a hater. To spread hate the way he does, it shouldn’t be allowed.” She dismissed excuses related to West’s mental health struggles, arguing, “It’s like, **** you.”
No Regrets Over Firm Public Stance
Between Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne’s statements, the stance against Kanye West’s unauthorized usage was clear. The couple stands firmly by their decision to condemn West’s sampling as disrespectful and offensive.
