Pedro Pascal, the acclaimed star of HBO’s The Last of Us, recently opened up about his anticipation of joining Marvel’s upcoming Fantastic Four film. Pascal will play the stretchy superhero Mister Fantastic alongside an A-list cast.

Living the Superhero Dream

Fresh off his SAG Award win for The Last of Us, Pascal described feeling “beyond excited” about entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “There isn’t anything more exciting than being in a cast like that,” Pascal told ET Online backstage at the SAG Awards.

He went on to praise Fantastic Four director Matt Shakman and his co-stars, saying “To be invited to a family like that is unbelievable, and we all just want to do our best and share it with the world.” Access Hollywood also reported Pascal calling the experience a “dream come true” and that he looks forward to bonding with his castmates during production.

Though tight-lipped about plot details, Pascal’s enthusiasm for joining the MCU is palpable. His co-star Paul Rudd, returning as Ant-Man, said Pascal “fits into that [Marvel] world so perfectly.” Pascal himself said he’s eager “to spend all my time” with his illustrious new co-workers.

All-Star Cast Assembles

Pascal joins an incredible ensemble bringing Marvel’s First Family to life. Paul Rudd reprises his role as Ant-Man, while Pascal’s Mister Fantastic will be joined by Emily Blunt as Invisible Woman, Krasinski as Human Torch, and Sebastian Stan as The Thing.

Director Matt Shakman described the cast as “legendary” and promised the film would honor the spirit of the iconic comic while feeling fresh and original. Fans erupted with excitement when Marvel announced the cast on Valentine’s Day 2024 via an illustrated poster with the film’s November 8, 2024 release date.

Early Bonding and Preparation

Though cameras likely haven’t started rolling yet, Pascal has already brought the cast together via group chat. His co-star Sebastian Stan revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live that Pascal created a chat where the cast offered greetings and shared gifs to start bonding.

“Everyone’s put a little image or a sticker or, you know, a GIF or something out there,” Stan said. “So people are invested, I guess.” This early camaraderie bodes well for the teamwork a blockbuster like Fantastic Four requires.

With an ambitious ensemble cast, legendary characters, and the full might of the MCU behind it, expectations are sky-high for Fantastic Four. But Pascal and the cast seem hungry for the challenge, eager to honor Marvel history while crafting something fresh and exciting. Pascal’s infectious enthusiasm already has fans counting down the days until showtime.
